The Regional Commission for Agricultural Development of Tunis announced, in a press release published on Monday, that the 2025/2026 cereal harvest season in the Tunis Governorate will begin on June 3 this year for barley cultivation.

For durum wheat, soft wheat, and triticale, harvest start is planned from June 8.

A decision taken after field visits

This decision comes as part of the monitoring of the cereal season and the preparations undertaken for the 2025/2026 harvest campaign.

According to the press release, the technical services of the Regional Commission for Agricultural Development conducted field visits to parcels reserved for cereal crops in the region, in order to assess the progress of crop maturation.

Moisture levels compatible with harvest launch

The relevant services recorded grain moisture levels estimated at 11% for barley, 11.8% for durum wheat, 12.7% for soft wheat and 13.4% for triticale.

These indicators allowed setting the harvest start dates according to crop types, in order to ensure a harvest under good technical conditions.

Possibility of transfer to neighboring collection centers

The Tunis Regional Commission for Agricultural Development also indicated that farmers in the region may transfer their cereal harvest to collection centers located in neighboring governorates.

This measure aims to facilitate the collection operation and to support producers during this important phase of the agricultural season.
