The Confederation of Tunisian Civic Enterprises (CONECT) has signed a partnership agreement with the startup “Soul & Planet,” aiming to plant one million trees in various regions of the country, as part of an initiative devoted to environmental protection and reforestation.
According to a statement issued by CONECT, the program aims to contribute to the restoration of the national forest cover and to the absorption of 25 000 tonnes of carbon dioxide (CO₂).
An initiative to restore forest spaces
The confederation noted that the signing of this agreement on its behalf was carried out by Ismaïl Ben Salah, the chairman of the steering committee for corporate social responsibility (CSR) within the organization.
This initiative, according to CONECT, comes in response to the environmental emergency and the need to restore the balance of forest ecosystems, after fires ravaged about 15 000 hectares of forests in Tunisia, according to figures provided by the organization.
The program thus foresees planting operations in several regions across the national territory, with the aim of contributing to the regeneration of affected natural spaces.
A commitment to sustainable development
Through this partnership, CONECT reaffirms its commitment to sustainable development, corporate social responsibility, and environmental preservation.
The confederation believes that every ecological initiative constitutes a contribution to building an economic model that is more respectful of nature.
The announced target of absorbing 25 000 tonnes of CO₂ remains, however, a projection of the program, whose implementation will depend notably on the growth and survival of the planted trees.
