Tunisia: Detention Order Against Journalist Mohamed Yousfi

Written by: Adel Khelifi on September 9, 2026

The first investigating judge of the Economic and Financial Judicial Pole issued a detention order against journalist Mohamed Yousfi, in connection with a case involving suspicions of illicit enrichment and money laundering.

A police custody order was issued last Friday

The investigating judge in charge of the file had authorized, last Friday, the agents of the Central Brigade for the Fight against Complex Financial Crimes of the National Guard in El Aouina to place Mohamed Yousfi in police custody.

This measure was taken within the framework of ongoing investigations into suspicions of illicit enrichment and money laundering.

The judicial investigation continues

The issuance of the detention order forms part of the ongoing judicial proceedings in the case.

At this stage, the alleged facts remain subject to investigation and to the assessment by the judiciary. The issuance of a detention order does not, in itself, constitute a definitive conviction.
