The head of the Libyan National Unity Government, Abdelhamid Dbeibah, expressed, during a meeting with the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Migration and Tunisians Abroad, Mohamed Ali Nafti, and the accompanying delegation, his satisfaction and appreciation for Tunisia’s high-level participation in the inauguration ceremony of the headquarters of the Group of Sahel and Sahara States, this Saturday.
According to a statement from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Abdelhamid Dbeibah affirmed his willingness to give a new impulse to the cooperation and partnership relations between Tunisia and Libya, so that they live up to the aspirations of the two brotherly peoples. This is part of the lead-up to the preparation of upcoming bilateral and multilateral milestones, notably the Tunisia Investment Forum, scheduled for June 25-26, 2026. He also tasked the minister with conveying his greetings to the President of the Tunisian Republic, Kaïs Saïed.
In this context, the Libyan head of government recommended that efforts be made so that Libya’s participation in the forum’s proceedings is substantial and marked, in realization of the common will to deepen and broaden partnerships between the economic actors and businessmen of the two brotherly countries.
For his part, the minister reaffirmed on this occasion the foundations of Tunisia’s position of support for the Libyan people, as well as Tunisia’s commitment to the unity and stability of Libya. He highlighted the Tunisian government’s determination to strengthen and diversify the partnership and cooperation between the two brotherly countries, in the mutual interest of Tunisia and Libya as well as their peoples. The minister also conveyed the greetings of the President of the Republic, Kaïs Saïed, to the Libyan National Unity Government’s head, Abdelhamid Dbeibah.
The Minister of Foreign Affairs also stressed the central role of the Tunisian community residing in Libya, in all its components, as a bridge for closer ties between the two countries. He underscored the importance of the two countries’ communities in contributing to a global and multidimensional renaissance of their respective nations, in economic, development, cultural and social terms.
The meeting also addressed several regional and international issues, while stressing the importance of close diplomatic coordination on those matters within the various Arab, African and Mediterranean regional spaces, under the aegis of the United Nations.
