The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Migration and Tunisians Abroad, Mohamed Ali Nafti, will participate, following instructions from the President of the Republic Kaïs Saïed, in the works of the extraordinary meeting of the Council of Foreign Ministers of the member states of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation.
The meeting will be held on Thursday, August 27, 2026, at the headquarters of the General Secretariat of the Organization in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.
A discussion devoted notably to the Palestinian question
According to a statement published on Wednesday by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, this meeting will provide an opportunity to work on formulating a common Arab and Islamic position in response to developments deemed concerning the Palestinian question.
The discussions will notably focus on the continuation of the policies pursued by the occupying authorities in Al-Quds (Jerusalem).
The election of the new Secretary-General on the agenda
The participants will also examine the issue of electing the new Secretary General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation.
This point will be among the main items on the agenda of this extraordinary meeting.
Bilateral meetings planned on the margins of the meeting
On the margins of the proceedings, Mohamed Ali Nafti is set to discuss with several of his counterparts from Arab and Islamic countries.
These meetings will be devoted to bilateral cooperation relations between Tunisia and the countries concerned, as well as possibilities for their development in various fields.
Cooperation and coordination on Islamic issues
The exchanges will also cover the main issues affecting the Islamic world and the means to strengthen joint action in the face of current challenges.
Tunisia’s participation thus fits into a process of diplomatic consultation with the member states of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, both on regional dossiers and on bilateral relations.
