After several months of shutdown devoted to comprehensive maintenance work, the Béja-based Tunisian Sugar Company (STS) officially resumes its activity this Monday, February 23, 2026, following a broad renovation program affecting all equipment and industrial installations.

In a statement to Tunisie Numérique, Ramzi Houimli, deputy director of production within the company, clarified that the maintenance operation was carried out in accordance with a rigorous technical program aimed at improving the factory’s performance and ensuring the continuity of production under optimal conditions.

According to the same source, daily production capacity will reach approximately 600 tonnes of sugar. The quantities produced will be progressively injected into the market, in coordination with the Tunisian Office of Trade, in order to support the supply of this basic commodity and meet consumer needs.

The resumption of activity of the Béja-based Tunisian Sugar Company should thus contribute to strengthening the pace of supply to the local market, especially in a context marked by growing sugar demand.
