In a statement given to Tunisie Numérique, environmental and climate expert Adel Hentati revisited the weather alert issued by the National Institute of Meteorology (INM), concerning strong winds that could reach 100 km/h.
According to the expert, the windy episode began two days ago, with Tunisia remaining under the influence of a deep depressional minimum coming from the North Pole. This depressional system traversed Spain, then Morocco and Algeria, before reaching Tunisian territory.
This phenomenon has resulted in variable precipitation across regions, as well as sustained winds caused by atmospheric pressure differences, also leading to rough seas.
Regarding the evolution of the situation, Adel Hentati specified that some weather models forecast the maintenance of current conditions through Friday and Saturday, with a possible extension to Sunday in certain areas.
Other scenarios, however, indicate that the effects of the depressional minimum could continue into the early part of next week.
The expert urged citizens to take the necessary precautions, particularly in regions known for the intensity of winds.
