Orange launches the 16th edition of the Orange Prize for Social Entrepreneurship in Africa and the Middle East (POESAM). This competition rewards each year innovative, impact-driven projects based on technology, in the 17 countries of the Orange footprint, including Tunisia.
Since 2011, the POESAM has highlighted technology-based startups that are committed to social and/or environmental impact in various fields such as education, health, the environment, or agriculture, thereby contributing to the Sustainable Development Goals.
POESAM is open to students, employees and entrepreneurs aged over 21, carrying a project created within the last five years and having reached at least the prototype or experimental stage.
The competition takes place in two stages :
- Step 1 : During the national final, four prizes will be awarded to the winners, including the Women’s Prize, launched last year with the support of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in Tunisia, with funding from Canada, which rewards a female-led entrepreneurial project.
- Step 2 : The Tunisian winners then qualify for the International Grand Prix, where they compete alongside candidates from the 16 other countries in the Africa and Middle East region. Four international prizes will also be awarded, including the International Women’s Prize.
For 16 years, the POESAM has been a true springboard for engaged entrepreneurs and offers a unique opportunity to showcase high-impact innovative projects and to win up to the equivalent of €25,000.
