The Tunisian Handball Federation announced, this Saturday 21 March 2026, a series of sanctions against players from the junior teams of BS Béni Khiar and the Hammamet Sports Association, following the violence that occurred during the match between them in the context of the Elite Junior Championship, which led to its interruption before the end of regulation time.

The Federation decided to suspend four players from BS Béni Khiar as well as one player from the Hammamet Sports Association.

It also imposed on BS Béni Khiar a six-match ban behind closed doors, accompanied by a fine of 6 thousand dinars.

The Tunisian Handball Federation has furthermore decided to suspend the president of BS Béni Khiar, Aymen Mezoual, from all sporting activity and to forward his file to the disciplinary commission for review.

Video footage indeed showed the individual’s direct involvement in the violence, notably after invading the field during the interruption of the match and violently assaulting a young player from the Hammamet Sports Association.

The president of BS Béni Khiar has been summoned before the Central Disciplinary Commission on Thursday 26 March 2026 at 11 a.m., at the Federation’s headquarters, to be heard in the context of this matter and so that an appropriate decision can be taken.
