Highway Network: Modernizing the Toll System and User Services

The Minister of Equipment and Housing, Salah Zouari, held on Tuesday a working session dedicated to monitoring the projects carried out by Tunisie Autoroutes.

During this meeting, participants examined the progress of all projects undertaken by the company, particularly those currently under construction for the year 2026.

Among these projects are the renovation and maintenance works of metal roofs on the A4 motorway connecting Sidi Thabet to El Alia, as well as the works at the Hergla entry and exit interchange on the A1 motorway, whose progress rate has reached 40%.

The meeting also allowed assessing the progress of the reinforcement works on the A1 motorway, between kilometer point 69 and another section of the axis, with a completion rate currently at 60%.

New projects and maintenance program

Participants also took note of the newly programmed projects as well as the progress of the maintenance program for the safety guardrails and metal roofs.

Discussions also addressed actions to improve rest areas, strengthen reforestation operations, and maintain the highway network.

The session also addressed difficulties in supplying specific materials, as well as the new technologies adopted to modernize the toll system on Tunisian motorways and optimize its operation.

Partnership with the Tunisian Post for electronic badges

In this framework, the signing of a partnership agreement between Tunisie Autoroutes and the Tunisian Post was announced.

This agreement will notably allow recharging the electronic toll badges via the D17 app, while ensuring the distribution of these badges through the Rapid Poste service.

Accelerate the works and improve services

At the conclusion of the meeting, Minister Salah Zouari called for accelerating the pace of the works, while taking the necessary measures to ensure they are completed within the deadlines set.

He also stressed the importance of strengthening safety conditions for highway users, while underscoring the need to continue restructuring Tunisie Autoroutes and to improve the services offered to citizens.
