Global football director of the Red Bull group for the past two seasons, Jürgen Klopp has stepped down from his duties to become the new head coach of Germany.

And it is Roger Schmidt who will take over within the Austrian company, as announced in a press release this Friday.

Having been available since his departure from Benfica in 2024, the German coach is entrusted with brand-new responsibilities.

“We are delighted to welcome Roger Schmidt to Red Bull. With his many years of experience, his exceptional football expertise and his perfect understanding of our philosophy, he is the ideal person to lead the sporting direction of our global football portfolio. Throughout his career, he has built an excellent reputation for developing young talents and promoting them successfully to the highest level,” said CEO Oliver Mintzlaff.

Schmidt will begin his new mission as of October 1.
