A working session held on Tuesday was devoted to monitoring the state of preparedness of the tourism sector for the upcoming period, in light of current global developments, as well as to defining prospective measures aimed at ensuring the continuation of the positive momentum recorded by the sector, the Ministry of Tourism said in a statement.

This session was chaired by the Minister of Tourism, Sofiene Tekaya, in the presence of representatives from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Migration and Tunisians Abroad, the presidents of the Tunisian Hotel Federation, the Tunisian Federation of Travel Agencies, the Tunisian Interprofessional Federation of Tourism, as well as several ministry officials, the Director General of the National Tunisian Tourism Office, and a number of its officials.

Sofiene Tekaya stressed that the ministry’s monitoring and surveillance unit continues to observe the latest evolutions and shifts in the international market, particularly regarding bookings, traffic and air and maritime links, in order to define the necessary preventive measures, strengthen Tunisia’s positioning as a destination, and improve its competitiveness as well as its level of preparedness.

He also indicated that work continues to adapt and reorient the tourism offer as well as the communication plan, in order to track the evolution of demand in international markets, through intensive and diversified promotional initiatives, in cooperation and close coordination with the various stakeholders, notably the Tunisian diplomatic missions, Tunisian tourism representations abroad, and sector professionals.

Participants in this working session reviewed the latest developments and the updated indicators related to tourism activity, at international and national levels.

The session also examined a series of specific programs aimed at improving the quality of services, hospitality, and investment promotion, while stressing the need to give greater attention to cleanliness, self-security, and safety.
