As part of the state’s strategy to support low- and middle-income categories by providing access to decent housing through a facilitated social mechanism, the governor of Sousse, Sofiane Tanfouri, presided, on Monday, June 1, 2026, over a working session dedicated to monitoring the progress of this program.
This meeting also followed the conclusions of the session held on October 31, 2025 at the governorate headquarters.
A program with strong social impact
On this occasion, the governor of Sousse highlighted the importance of this program, which he described as a positive step in favor of social justice and social stability.
He also recalled that this mechanism aims to guarantee citizens’ right to decent housing, particularly for families with low and middle incomes.
Two projects scheduled in Sidi Abdelhamid and Sousse Jawhara
The session allowed the examination of the progress of the two projects planned in the Sousse governorate, more precisely in the delegations of Sidi Abdelhamid and Sousse Jawhara.
According to the general director of the Tunisian Real Estate Company, the start of construction is expected before the end of 2026, after the completion of the various preparatory steps.
Land situations examined
The participants in the meeting also studied the different land situations proposed for the realization of these projects.
The objective is to identify the necessary solutions to overcome certain difficulties and to ensure the availability of the conditions and criteria required for the proper execution of this national program.
Accelerating preparations
At the end of the session, the governor of Sousse called for continuing efforts to finalize the preparatory steps for the projects planned in the region.
He stressed the need to activate the facilitated housing mechanism, in line with the social role of the State and its commitment to the right to housing.
