Tunisia: Major Investments Planned in District 5 (Report)

The fifth district, which brings together the governorates of Tataouine, Gabès, Kebili and Medenine, will benefit from 2,629 projects within the framework of implementing its development priorities.

The overall estimated cost of these projects amounts to 13,452 million dinars, of which 6,348 million dinars are programmed investments during the development plan period 2026-2030.

A district covering nearly half of Tunisia’s territory

The fifth district covers an area of 77.7 thousand square kilometers, i.e., 47.5% of Tunisia’s total area.

It comprises 37 delegations, 42 municipalities and 274 administrative sectors.

Located in southern Tunisia, it is bordered by the Mediterranean Sea and Libya to the east, as well as by Algeria to the west. Its strategic geographic position allows it to ensure a link between the two shores of the Mediterranean, as well as between the Maghreb and Mashreq countries.

A 640-kilometer coastline

The coastline of the fifth district extends for about 640 kilometers. It includes notably the Gulf of Gabès,
