The Commission for Agriculture, Food and Water Security and Maritime Fisheries of the Assembly of the People’s Representatives holds, this Tuesday, July 14, 2026 at noon, a session devoted to the election of its new president.
The meeting takes place under the supervision of the president of the Assembly of the People’s Representatives, following the resignation of Deputy Hassan Jarboui from the presidency of the commission.
A session to appoint the presidency of the commission
The members of the commission are called to elect a new president in order to ensure the continuity of its work and the follow-up of files within its remit.

Hassan Jarboui had denounced the blockage of reforms
Hassan Jarboui had announced his resignation from the presidency of the commission, justifying his decision by what he described as the “continuation of the blockage of the reform process and the persistence of the causes of failure” in handling agricultural dossiers.
This resignation comes in a context marked by several challenges affecting the agricultural sector, notably water resource management, food security, agricultural production, and governance of the different sectors of the supply chains.
