About ten deli meat products from the Carrefour Le Marché brand are being recalled across France and must not be consumed right away! How so?
The government site Rappel Conso has published an alert concerning several references of charcuterie marketed in Carrefour stores. Notably affected are cooked pork roasts, pork loins, rib squares, garlic sausages, country pâtés, jarretons, petits salés, and some bacon cocktails, reported Le Progrès.
These products were sold, either sliced to order or pre-packaged, until mid-July in Carrefour stores nationwide. Consumers who hold any of these products are asked not to consume them and to return them to the store in order to obtain a refund. An information number is also available: 0805 908 070.
Several dozen deaths from listeriosis each year
Authorities recommend that people who have consumed these products and are experiencing fever, headaches or muscle aches consult a doctor, specifying this consumption. Pregnant women, the elderly and immunocompromised individuals are considered most at risk of severe forms of the disease. Listeriosis is an infection caused by the bacterium Listeria monocytogenes.
Its incubation can reach up to eight weeks and it is among the main causes of deaths related to foodborne illnesses in France, with several dozen deaths recorded each year. The Rappel Conso site, created in 2021, centralizes all recalls of products presenting a health risk to consumers.
