Tunisia: Inflation Rate Edges Down in July

Written by: Adel Khelifi on August 5, 2026

The INSEE announced that the inflation rate reached 5.1% in July 2026, and this against a rate of 5.3%. This rate is explained, on the one hand, by the slowdown in the pace of price growth for the “Food and Beverages” group (6.6% in July 2026 versus 7.1% in June 2026).

And on the other hand, by the acceleration in the pace of price changes for the Tobacco group (1.3% in July 2026 versus 1% in June 2026), as well as for the “Restaurants and Hotels” group (6.5% in July 2026 versus 6.3% in June 2026).

In July 2026, the core inflation rate (excluding food and energy) fell to 4.8%, down from 4.9% in June 2026. Prices of unregulated products rose by 6.2% year on year. Prices of regulated products rose by 1.1%. Unregulated food products rose by 7.4% whereas regulated food products rose by 0.2%.
