The head of government, Sarra Zaafrani Zenzri, stated, at the opening of a ministerial meeting dedicated to examining the major directions of the reform of the social security system, that the structural reform of this mechanism must start from national realities in their various social and economic dimensions.

She emphasized that this reform must ensure coherence of interventions and the complementarity of roles among the different structures, funds and programs, within the framework of a global and integrated national approach, breaking with ad hoc or partial solutions and enshrining the principles of social justice and equity, in order to meet the aspirations of citizens.

This approach, she clarified, is part of the vision of the President of the Republic, Kaïs Saïed, according to which the right to social protection and to health coverage is among the fundamental rights of human beings.

The head of government underscored that reform of the social security system, the health system and health coverage constitutes a priority for the State. She noted that a deep, comprehensive and coherent revision of the different components of the system is currently underway, in order to guarantee equity in health and fair access to services.

At the end of the meeting, Sarra Zaafrani Zenzri reaffirmed that the reform work on social security and health systems continued on the basis of evaluations, in-depth diagnostics and technical studies conducted for this purpose.

She specified that long-term structural reforms would be implemented progressively, beginning with urgent measures, before embarking on short- and medium-term reforms. The objective is to ensure clarity of the implementation mechanisms and their adaptation to the changes affecting employment, social protection and health systems.
