According to indicators published by the INS, during the first six months of 2026, industrial production rose by 2.9% year-on-year, compared with the same period of the previous year.

This increase, according to the INS, is due, on the one hand, to the rise in production in the agro-food industries sector (+9.3%) and in the mechanical and electrical industries sector (+4%), as well as to the surge in the petroleum refining sector (+123.4%), following the resumption of activity after several shutdowns recorded in the previous year.

Conversely, industrial production declined in the chemical industries sector (-9.2%), the construction materials, ceramics and glass industries sector (-4.1%), the textile, clothing and leather sector (-3.4%), as well as in the energy sector (-4%) and the mining sector (-3.5%).
