U.S. PCE Price Index Up 0.2% in July 2026

The U.S. Bureau of Economic Analysis announced today that the personal consumption expenditures (PCE) price index in the United States rose by 0.2% in July 2026 from the previous month, exceeding market expectations which had anticipated a 0.1% increase, after a 0.1% decline in June.

Inflation in services accelerated to 0.3%, up from 0.1% the previous month, while goods prices fell by 0.1%, after a 0.6% drop.

The underlying PCE inflation, which excludes food and energy prices, rose by 0.2%, in line with expectations, after a 0.1% increase in June.

On a year-over-year basis, headline PCE inflation remained steady at 3.7%, above the 3.6% expectation. The core PCE inflation also held at 3.3%, in line with forecasts.
