Basic materials up, financials under pressure
Sector indices confirm the market’s contrasting character for the session.
The basic materials register the strongest advance with +1.22%, ahead of the agro-food and beverages (+0.86%), the consumer goods (+0.71%) and the construction and building materials (+0.37%).
Conversely, financials moved into the red. The insurance index fell by 0.83%, the banks by 0.49%, and the whole group of financial companies by 0.48%.
This sectoral contrast accompanied a session in which the Tunindex finally ended slightly lower.
The August 28 session thus illustrates a market where the index’s apparent stability masks much sharper movements at the stock level: the Tunindex edges down by only 0.16%, but declines dominate the board, with individual changes ranging from +1.96% for TPR to -6.00% for Attijari Leasing among the continuously traded stocks.
