According to the German Federal Foreign Office, German Foreign Minister Johann Wadephul will undertake this Monday, August 31, a visit to Tunisia and Algeria to explore growth potential and economic opportunities in the Mediterranean.
And adding that Germany and Tunisia will mark in 2026 the 70th anniversary of the establishment of their diplomatic relations. This symbolic anniversary attests to the close ties that have been built over the decades between the two countries, in economic, cultural and political terms.
The political exchanges, notably around their shared interests in favor of regional stability and in the Sahel, will be at the heart of the discussions of the German Foreign Minister, Johann Wadephul, with the President of the Republic, Kaïs Saïed, and his Tunisian counterpart, Mohamed Ali Nafti.
The discussions will also cover, among other things, Tunisia’s connection to the European energy grid as well as the development of renewable energy sources.
During his trip to Tunisia and Algeria, he will be accompanied by an economic delegation, with the objective of fully exploiting the joint potential in terms of trade and investments.
For reference, around 330,000 German tourists visit Tunisia each year. The country is also appreciated by German companies, notably for the quality of its skilled workforce and the intensity of scientific exchanges.
