The Béja Regional Directorate of Equipment published on its official page photos illustrating the progress of the project to construct a bridge over the Medjerda River and to address discontinuities on the regional road, from PK 25 to PK 31.4, in the Béja Governorate. This project aims to relieve the village of Mestouta from isolation and to strengthen the connection among the region’s various classified roads.
The overall cost of the project is estimated at 28.5 million dinars. The rate of progress of the works has reached 55%, while completion is expected by the end of April 2027. The project includes, notably, the following components :

- clearing the project footprint over a length of 6.4 km ;
- construction of a bridge over the Medjerda River, consisting of precast prestressed concrete beams;
execution of 18 hydraulic structures ; - construction of concrete culverts for water drainage ;
- implementation of protection works using rock materials ;
- earthworks and backfilling works ;
- construction of the pavement structure from granular materials ;
- construction of a two-layer surface coating over a length of 6.3 km ;
installation of a bituminous concrete wearing course on the bridge ; - execution of horizontal and vertical road markings.
Preventive interventions against flood risks
The Béja Regional Directorate of Equipment has also indicated that the interventions carried out in anticipation of the rainy season and to prevent flood risks are continuing. In this regard, the course of the wadi located near the Sebalet El Arneb urban area, in the Béja North delegation, has been dredged.
Dredging and cleaning operations are also underway at the various stormwater drainage inlets located on the classified roads under the Béja Regional Directorate of Equipment and Housing.
These interventions also concern the hydraulic structures as well as their channels, in order to guarantee optimal water flow.
An intervention program has also been established for this purpose. It will be carried out by private companies and is due to start at the beginning of September.
