This evolution concerned all sectors, with a particularly marked rise in services.

  • The services sector registered the largest increase, with 1.684 billion dinars.
  • Claims on the economy advanced by 3 %, i.e., 3.735 billion dinars.
  • Net claims on the central administration reached 69.209 billion dinars at the end of June 2026.
  • Net subscriptions to Treasury bills stood at 2.086 billion dinars.

Services Account for the Strongest Increase

The industrial sector ranked second, with an increase of 414 million dinars. It thus returns to growth after a dip of 64 million dinars in the first six months of 2025.

Loans allocated to agriculture and fishing rose by 101 million dinars, compared with a growth of 67 million dinars during the same period of the previous year.

Services +1.684 billion dinars +1.272 billion dinars
Industry +414 million dinars -64 million dinars
Agriculture and fishing +101 million dinars +67 million dinars

Slowing Financing to Individuals

The growth of financing granted to individuals was limited to 108 million dinars in the first half of 2026, versus 276 million dinars between January and June 2025.

The BCT does not specify, in the cited data, the detailed breakdown of this evolution by type of credit to individuals.

Claims on the Economy Rise by 3%

Claims on the economy increased by 3 % in the first half of 2026, i.e., a rise of 3.735 billion dinars. They had evolved by 1.3 %, or 1.490 billion dinars, during the same period in 2025.

This acceleration is notably explained by the 12.8% increase in the portfolio of securities, equivalent to 935 million dinars, compared with 6.4 % and 461 million dinars a year earlier.

Loans to the economy likewise rose by 2.4 %, i.e., 2.800 billion dinars, versus a rise of 0.9 %, amounting to 1.030 billion dinars, in the first half of 2025.

Increase in Immobilized Receivables

Overdrawn current accounts advanced by 1.573 billion dinars, versus 1.187 billion dinars a year earlier.

The banks’ discount portfolio declined by 1.021 billion dinars. This drop is smaller than the 2.376 billion dinars fall recorded in the first half of 2025.

Net Claims on the Central Administration at 69.209 Billion Dinars

By end-June 2026, net claims on the central administration reached 69.209 billion dinars, after an increase of 4.382 billion dinars. This rise remains below the 5.836 billion dinars observed at the end of the first half of 2025.

This evolution occurs within a slowdown of facilities granted to the State to support the budget. These facilities rose by 2.700 billion dinars, versus 3.650 billion dinars at end-June 2025.

The pace of increase in the stock of Treasury bonds held by banks also slowed. Its rise stood at 2.449 billion dinars, versus 3.815 billion dinars a year earlier.

The Treasury’s current account decreased by 29 million dinars, while it had risen by 1.362 billion dinars during the same period in 2025. According to the BCT, this decline had an expansionary but limited effect.

Net Subscriptions of 2.086 Billion Dinars

Treasury bill issuances reached 5.454 billion dinars in the first half of 2026, while redemptions amounted to 3.368 billion dinars. Net subscriptions thus stand at 2.086 billion dinars.
