The official spokesperson for Civil Protection, Colonel Khalil Mechri, announced on Mosaïque FM this Thursday, September 10, that Civil Protection units have carried out a series of interventions due to the heavy rains battering several regions of the country, notably Greater Tunis.
The senior officer indicated that Civil Protection teams intervened notably at the Bab Alioua bus station, where torrential rains heavily disrupted traffic. The teams dispatched to the scene are trying to free cars stuck and to unblock traffic, while rescuing citizens trapped by the waters.
Facing the risks, the Civil Protection spokesperson invites users, especially pedestrians, to refrain from challenging the danger, particularly crossing wadis or watercourses. He further asks citizens to exercise caution and to wait for the arrival of rescue teams or the improvement of weather conditions before any travel.
He also warned about contact with electric poles during rainy episodes.
