In Brazil, conservative Senator Flavio Bolsonaro, one of the favorites in the country’s presidential race, is under scrutiny in a corruption and money-laundering probe, according to a judicial document released publicly on Friday, September 11, less than a month before the election.
A Supreme Court judge authorized in July the opening of a police investigation into Flavio Bolsonaro for possible offenses related to the “financing of the production” of “Dark Horse”, a film about his father and former far-right president Jair Bolsonaro (2019-2022), according to the decision consulted by several media outlets.
The 45-year-old senator acknowledged in May to have sought funding for this film from banker Daniel Vorcaro, who is currently incarcerated for a banking fraud scandal affecting all sectors of the country’s economy, politics and judiciary.
