A new twist in the Mbappé vs PSG case. Having been at odds with him since his departure in August 2024, the capital club has secured a small victory. It obtained its ruling following the precautionary seizures secured by the lawyers of France’s captain on PSG’s account in April 2025.
According to L’Équipe, the Real Madrid forward was ordered to pay 60,000 euros in compensation to his former club.
As a reminder, after his departure from PSG in the summer of 2024, Kylian Mbappé is claiming 60 million euros from the capital club, corresponding to bonuses and incentives that the club allegedly refuses to pay him. Despite the support of the LFP’s legal commission, the case drags on and Mbappé decides to take the matter to the prud’hommes in spring 2025.
A seizure for “media purposes”
At the same time, Mbappé’s lawyers have carried out several precautionary seizures on the club’s accounts. This procedure allows funds to be “frozen” while waiting for the situation to be adjudicated. It’s mainly a way to ensure that PSG will have the means to pay its debt to Mbappé. The club did not appreciate these seizures at all, contending that it had sufficient financial capacity in case of a judgment. It argues that Mbappé’s camp requested these seizures only for “media purposes”.
In May, they were cancelled. However, in December 2025, PSG was condemned by the Prud’hommes to pay Mbappé 61 million euros.
Mbappé must compensate PSG
On September 3, 2026, the Paris Court of Appeal ordered the player to pay 60,000 euros in compensation to his former club. They were intended to offset “the unavailability of his cash flow.” It lasted 45 days. PSG had to urgently find a line of credit in order to “meet the needs of ongoing financing.”
PSG had also sought moral damages. The club argued that the precautionary seizures had “put at risk the payment of the salaries of the company’s 724 employees, the payment of many suppliers, the deduction of tax obligations (…) and had further caused a critical disorganization of several departments, notably those related to financial, legal and human resources functions.” A request that was denied by the judges.
It also stressed that its seizures had “caused fear of the impossibility to honor sporting debts, which could have opened the risk of FIFA sanctions, potentially including a transfer ban, even as the transfer window began on June 1, 2025.”
The judges also refused to grant PSG any image and reputation damage, which had sought a symbolic 1 euro.
