The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Migration and Tunisians Abroad, Mohamed Ali Nafti, received on Tuesday a telephone call from his Omani counterpart, Badr bin Hamad Al Busaidi. The discussion covered the various aspects of bilateral cooperation as well as the latest developments in the regional situation.
According to a ministry statement, the two ministers reaffirmed their categorical rejection of any attack on the security and stability of the brotherly Middle Eastern countries. They also stressed the need to intensify regional and international efforts to put an end to the military escalation in the region, to foster de-escalation and to prioritize dialogue, in order to spare the countries and peoples of the region the risks of a renewed aggravation of tensions and its repercussions on regional and international peace and security.
Mohamed Ali Nafti expressed Tunisia’s thanks and appreciation to the Omani authorities for the intensified mediation efforts they are deploying to bring the positions of the two parties in the conflict closer.
For his part, the Omani Minister of Foreign Affairs praised the convergence of the two countries’ efforts with a view to ensuring the success of Tunisia’s presidency of the Council of the Arab League at the ministerial level.
During this telephone conversation, the two ministers also highlighted the strength of the fraternal and cooperative relations binding the two countries and peoples, as well as the willingness of their leaders to raise them to even higher levels.
In this context, they stressed the importance of continuing the preparation of upcoming bilateral milestones and ensuring the follow-up of agreements concluded in various areas, notably those related to the interests of the Tunisian community residing in the Sultanate of Oman.
