The Higher Institute of Biotechnology of Sfax organized, on Wednesday, September 23, 2026, an orientation day to accompany its new students in their first steps at the university. According to its director, Dr. Ali Bougatef, more than 250 students are enrolled in the first year.
Discovering the Institute’s Programs and How It Functions
Rooted in the institution’s annual tradition, this day aims to facilitate the welcome of new enrollees and their adaptation to university life.
The program included a presentation of the institute, of its history, of its specialties and training pathways, as well as university, pedagogical and administrative services accessible to students.
Participants were also able to directly exchange with the coordinators on the organization of studies, examinations, supervision, internships and employment prospects.
Developing Adapted Study Methods
A interactive workshop allowed students to discover the demands of university life and practices likely to help them succeed in their course. Time management, study methods and communication skills were among the topics covered.
Dr. Ali Bougatef explained that this initiative should support students, particularly during their early years, by giving them the information necessary to understand the curricula and to benefit from the institute’s services.

The director emphasized that university life is not limited to classes and exams. He encouraged students to join clubs and to participate in activities offered within the establishment.

He also highlighted the value of supplementary training, notably in entrepreneurship, to reinforce students’ skills and their prospects for professional integration.
Updated Training Programs and New Digital Services
Ali Bougatef indicated that the training paths had been revised to take into account technological developments, artificial intelligence and the challenges of environmental sustainability.
He also announced the launch of the institute’s new website by the end of September 2026. This platform is expected to offer more digitized services to students and teachers.
The director finally indicated that the institution was close to obtaining quality certifications, without announcing the final attribution.
