The Minister of Economy and Planning, Samir Abdelhafidh, and the Chinese ambassador to Tunisia, Wan Li, underscored the need to accelerate the activation of the memorandum of understanding establishing a joint working group charged with examining ways to stimulate Chinese investments in Tunisia.
The two officials met on Wednesday afternoon, according to information published on Thursday, October 8, 2026 by the Ministry of Economy and Planning. The meeting allowed reviewing the state of economic cooperation between Tunisia and China, its prospects and the opportunities available to strengthen it further.
The two parties also discussed upcoming deadlines and events, particularly the Sino-African Forum. According to the ministry, this event offers opportunities to consolidate economic relations, both at the bilateral level and within the African space, and to take advantage of the financial and technical mechanisms available in support of economic and social development.
In the same context, emphasis was placed on the need to deploy greater efforts, from both sides, in order to accelerate the pace of realization of certain ongoing projects, the same source indicates.
