The city of Hammamet will host, from October 14 to 17, the competitions of the Africa Men’s Golf Championship, with 68 players from 17 countries: Tunisia, Algeria, Botswana, Cameroon, Egypt, Gabon, Ghana, Kenya, Libya, Mauritius, Morocco, Réunion, South Africa, Seychelles, Uganda, Zambia and Zimbabwe.
Tunisia thus reconnects with continental competition after having been unable to participate in the last edition, held in 2024 in Botswana. It will be notably represented by the trio that achieved the best Tunisian performance on the continental level by taking fourth place in 2022 in Cairo: Rabah Badaoui, Baha Boulkamine and Aziz Dardouri. Alongside them will be the young Mehdi Ben Youssef, 17, residing in the United States.
South Africa, the dominant nation in African golf and holder of the record for continental titles with 12 crowns, will also be present with a team led by the experienced Evan Forster, winner of the last edition contested two years ago in Botswana.
He will be accompanied in particular by the 2026 South African champion, Constantan Van Wyk, as well as Jad Sandelson and the young prospect Jonathan Welsnach.
The competition is expected to be particularly strong with Morocco, which had won the continental title in the penultimate edition, held four years ago in Cairo. Teams such as Tunisia, Zambia, Zimbabwe, Kenya and Egypt will also enter the competition with the aim of reaching the top places.
On the sidelines of the championship, the African Golf Confederation will hold, on October 16, its elective general assembly for the 2026-2030 term. Tunisia will be affected by this deadline through the candidacy of Mohamed Aziz Fetni, president of the Tunisian Golf Federation and current president of Africa Zone 1, for the post of vice-president of the Confederation.
