Command Center for Forest Fire Alert and Surveillance Inaugurated in Ghardimaou
A command room dedicated to alerting and monitoring forest fires was inaugurated this Tuesday, October 13, 2026, at the Forest Protection Center in Ghardimaou, in the Jendouba Governorate.
A training session for agents is set to begin on Wednesday around the ‘FOCS’ application, presented as a unified system for operational control of fires, with support from the World Wide Fund for Nature in North Africa.
In a statement to National Radio, Ahmed Gharbi, project manager at the World Wide Fund for Nature in North Africa, explained that the fire protection device in Ghardimaou relies on a digital system designed to accelerate the reporting of forest fires.
He added that this system also allows more effective routing of fire trucks and firefighting teams, in order to save time in interventions, noting that the rollout of this system is planned to be gradually generalized.
