Ariana Water Outages This Sunday: Affected Neighborhoods and Estimated Restoration Time

Written by: Adel Khelifi on November 1, 2026

Cuts and disruptions in drinking water distribution affect several areas of the Ariana Governorate since Saturday, October 31, 2026.

According to the National Water Exploitation and Distribution Company (SONEDE), a fault affecting a pipeline feeding the El Mnihla reservoir is at the origin of the incident.

The gradual return of water is announced to begin at noon this Sunday, November 1, subject to completion of the works.

The technical fault occurred on a discharge pipe located in the Douar Hicher–Ettadhamen area, used to feed the El Mnihla reservoir. SONEDE teams have undertaken repair works that are ongoing, according to the company’s statement circulated on Saturday.

Key information for the affected residents

Origin: discharge pipe fault feeding the El Mnihla reservoir.

Sectors mentioned: the El Bostene and El Joumhouria neighborhoods, the elevated areas of the Ettadhamen delegation, and the Raoued and Kalâat El Andalous sectors.

Water return: gradual restoration announced starting from 12:00 p.m. on Sunday, November 1, after repairs.

Which neighborhoods and sectors are affected?

SONEDE specifically cites the El Bostene and El Joumhouria neighborhoods, as well as the elevated areas of the Ettadhamen delegation. Disturbances also affect parts of the Raoued and Kalâat El Andalous delegations.

This listing repeats the sectors mentioned in the announcement. It does not necessarily mean that all neighborhoods within each delegation are without water at the same time: the situation can vary depending on the networks and available pressure.

A gradual return announced to begin at noon

The company plans to progressively resume distribution from noon this Sunday, once the works are completed. This is not a guarantee of simultaneous restoration in all households at 12:00: the filling of pipelines and reservoirs may lead to a staggered return of service.

Residents affected are invited to follow SONEDE’s updates to monitor the progress of the works. At the time of this announcement, no report confirming full service restoration had been communicated.
