The Ambassador of the Tunisian Republic to Abidjan, Zied Saadaoui, met last Wednesday with the Ivorian Minister of Interior and Security, Vagondo Diomandé. The meeting was devoted to examining the state of cooperation between the two countries and the prospects for their development, particularly in the security sector.
The discussions covered several common security challenges, especially the fight against terrorism, cross-border and organized crime, irregular migration, as well as the prevention of offenses related to falsification and fraud in official documents, according to a publication on the official page of the Tunisian Embassy in Abidjan.
In this context, the two sides stressed the importance of strengthening consultation and coordination among the competent structures, through intensified information and expertise exchange, the development of joint training and exercise programs, and the strengthening of the capacities of the security service cadres and officers.
These axes constitute essential levers for developing operational cooperation and consolidating the two countries’ capacities in the field of prevention and fight against security threats.
At the end of the meeting, the Tunisian ambassador thanked the Ivorian minister for his availability and openness to cooperation. He reaffirmed Tunisia’s attachment to the friendship, fraternity and solidarity that unite it with Ivory Coast, as well as its willingness to continue efforts, in coordination with the Ivorian authorities, to deepen the bilateral partnership and diversify its areas of cooperation, in service of the common interests of the two countries and their brotherly peoples.
This meeting is part of the dynamic experienced by Tunisian-Ivorian relations. It testifies to the mutual will of the two countries to raise their partnership in this strategic field to a higher level and to strengthen the mechanisms of cooperation and coordination between their respective security institutions.
