The president of the Free Destourian Party (PDL), Abir Moussi, had an appointment at the Court of Cassation following the appeals filed by her Defense Committee in several judicial decisions that had confirmed on appeal the convictions handed down at first instance. All requests were dismissed by the court, reports Mosaïque FM this Tuesday, September 29.
The appeals were mainly aimed at the so-called “order desk” of the Presidency of the Republic, as well as two other legal proceedings initiated by the Independent High Authority for Elections (ISIE).
As a reminder, on March 13, 2026, the Criminal Chamber of the Tunis Court of Appeal had convicted Ms. Moussi to 10 years in prison in the “order desk” case; she had also been sentenced to 6 months in prison for “obstruction of the freedom to work”.
In the two ISIE-related cases, the Free Destourian leader had been sentenced on appeal to 2 years in prison in the first case and 6 months in the second. The total of the verdicts pronounced in these three cases thus amounts to 12 years and 6 months in prison.
