The La Rabta University Hospital is organizing tomorrow, Monday, April 27, an awareness campaign on the importance of early screening for colorectal cancer, as part of broader preventive health efforts and the fight against cancer.

According to a communiqué released by the Faculty of Medicine of Tunis, the awareness day will take place from 10:00 to 15:00, in the gastroenterology department of La Rabta Hospital. Medical information will be provided to participants, with a presentation on the mechanisms of early detection and the means of preventing colorectal cancer.

This campaign aims to bring medical information closer to citizens and to strengthen awareness of the importance of periodic examinations, particularly for groups at greater risk, in order to increase early detection rates and to improve chances of treatment and timely intervention.

According to official statistics, colorectal cancer ranks second, with 2,300 new cases among men and 1,940 new cases among women.

Breast cancer ranked first among women in 2024, with around 4,400 cases, while lung cancer held the top position among men, with nearly 3,000 cases.
