The Health Minister, Mustapha Ferjani, stated this Wednesday, October 28, 2026 that the Tunisian health system was ready to ensure surveillance and preparedness for emergencies, while reaffirming Tunisia’s commitment to African cooperation to protect populations and limit the spread of the Ebola outbreak.

This statement comes on the occasion of his participation in an extraordinary virtual ministerial meeting organized by the Africa Centres for Disease Control and Prevention (Africa CDC), dedicated to monitoring the evolution of the Ebola outbreak caused by the Bundibugyo strain.

According to a statement from the Ministry of Health, the meeting focused on three operational priorities: strengthening surveillance and early warning to detect risks, consolidating control and prevention measures to limit cross-border transmission of the infection, and coordinating among countries to accelerate the health response.
