A major fire broke out in the forests of the El M’sid mountains in the delegation of Nefza, in the Beja Governorate, triggering intensive mobilization of intervention teams to try to contain the flames.

The firefighting operations were still continuing on Thursday at midday, with the objective of containing the spread of the fire and preventing its extension to other areas.

The rescue teams deployed on the ground

Civil Protection units and forest agents are mobilized to encircle the fire’s focal point and limit its advance.

Volunteers from the Tunisian Red Crescent are also participating in the field efforts, alongside the specialized teams, in order to reinforce surveillance and intervention operations.

The various responders continue their actions to master the flames, in a context marked by rapid spread of the fire in certain areas.

Difficulties related to the terrain and weather conditions

According to information gathered by the correspondent of Tunisia Numérique in Béja, the intervention operations encounter several difficulties due to the rugged mountain terrain and the weather conditions.

The extinguishing teams remain deployed in the region to respond to the evolving situation and to intervene quickly in threatened areas.

Increased monitoring near inhabited areas

The intervention teams maintain a high level of vigilance, particularly in areas close to dwellings, to prevent the flames from reaching residential zones.

Continuous monitoring is ensured on the ground until the fire is fully under control and the area is secured.
