Decisions concerning promotions and new appointments within the ranks of judicial and military magistrates were published on Wednesday in the Official Journal of the Tunisian Republic (JORT).
These measures, which concern several grades and judicial functions, will take effect from September 16, 2026.
127 judicial magistrates promoted
According to Decree No. 209 of 2026, dated August 21, 2026 and published by the Ministry of Justice, several promotions have been decided within the corps of judicial magistrates.
Thus, 54 magistrates of the judicial order were promoted from the second to the third grade, while 73 magistrates benefited from a promotion from the first to the second grade.
These promotions are part of the career progression of magistrates and the management of grades within the judicial corps.
New roles for military magistrates
In the field of military justice, Decree No. 210 of 2026, also dated August 21, 2026 and published by the Ministry of National Defense, provides for the appointment of 13 military magistrates of the third grade to various judicial functions.
Among the positions involved are notably:
the position of First Deputy Prosecutor General at the Directorate General of Military Justice;
the office of Prosecutor General at the Military Court of Appeal;
the office of Prosecutor of the Republic at the Permanent Military Court of First Instance in Tunis.
44 other nominations in military jurisdictions
The new wave of nominations also concerns 13 military magistrates of the second grade, to be assigned to new functions.
These nominations notably include advisers to the Military Chamber of Indictment at the Court of Appeal of Tunis and to military jurisdictions, deputies to the Prosecutor General at the Military Court of Appeal, as well as investigating judges at the permanent military courts.
Moreover, 31 officers holding the ranks of captain and lieutenant first magistrate have been named deputies to the Prosecutor of the Republic at the permanent military courts of first instance in Tunis, Al-Kef and Sfax.
A new organization effective starting September 16
All of these promotions and appointments will take effect as of September 16, 2026, in accordance with the decisions published in the Official Journal.
This new reorganization thus concerns several levels of the judicial and military magistracy, with the aim of ensuring the renewal of functions and the continuity of the functioning of the various jurisdictions.
