The Minister of Vocational Training and Employment, Riadh Chaoued, indicated that Tunisian authorities are moving toward the creation of 1,200 new community-based enterprises in the various regions of the country.
The minister stressed that the data received by his department is, according to him, beginning to reveal a positive impact of these enterprises on job creation and local development.
An electronic platform in the final stages of development
Riadh Chaoued also announced that the ministry had established an electronic platform dedicated to community enterprises, currently in the final stages of its development.
This platform is designed to accompany the development of this model and facilitate the monitoring of the enterprises concerned.
A role that goes beyond job creation
According to the minister, the role of community enterprises is not limited to creating jobs.
He estimated that they can also help keep residents in their regions by developing local economic activities and leveraging available regional resources.
The goal of 1,200 new community enterprises is, at this stage, a policy direction announced by the ministry and not a tally of enterprises already created.
