The Ministry of Trade and Export Development announced that the Economic Control Services, in coordination with security services, have since the beginning of June 2026 carried out a series of joint, targeted control operations. These actions aim to support citizens’ purchasing power by fighting monopolistic practices and excessive price increases in the distribution channels of essential consumer goods, as well as by adjusting prices on site.
These interventions have resulted in the identification of 4,611 economic infractions, of which 2,068 concern agricultural and fisheries products, and 1,533 concern food products. The number of offenses recorded in the realm of price gouging and monopolistic practices reached 1,335. These operations also led to the seizure of 49 tons of vegetables and fruits, as well as other quantities of consumer goods.
