The Higher School of Digital Economics (ESEN) left a mark this Wednesday, April 22, at Technopole de la Manouba. On the occasion of its 22nd anniversary, the event « E-Commerce: The Comeback » brought together academics, experts, decision-makers and young talents for a strategic reflection on the new drivers of digital growth in Tunisia.
In an electric atmosphere, more than 500 participants, teachers, administrative staff, students, alumni, experts and decision-makers gathered to celebrate more than two decades of academic excellence. Under the slogan « E-commerce: The Comeback », the event not only traced ESEN’s journey since 2004 but also opened a high-level debate on the new challenges of electronic commerce in Tunisia.
A Bridge Between Memory and the Future
The morning began with an emotionally charged sequence with the panel “ESEN: The Flashback.” The builders of the school, former directors and historic figures of UMA (University of Manouba), shared the genesis of academic e-commerce in Tunisia.
This look to the past served as a foundation for a vision firmly oriented toward the future, carried by the current director, Jihene El Ouakdi.
At the Heart of Digital Commerce Challenges
The highlight of the event was the strategic panel dedicated to taking stock of the sector. Renowned experts dissected the current growth levers :
- The state of e-commerce in Tunisia and its future.
-
The revolution of digital payments and local logistics.
-
The massive impact of AI and Data on customer conversion.
-
Cross-border opportunities for Tunisian e-merchants.
The exchange, described by participants as “passionate and a generator of constructive ideas,” highlighted the need for greater synergy between public actors, startups, and the academic world.
22 Success Stories to Inspire the Next Generation
The event also highlighted 22 emblematic alumni. These ESEN faces, now entrepreneurs or senior executives, testified to the impact of their training on transforming the digital economy in Tunisia and internationally.
The day closed in a festive atmosphere around the 22nd anniversary cake, followed by networking and team-building workshops.
The University: Cradle of Tomorrow’s Builders
Between the rapid evolution of e-payments and the integration of AI into conversion strategies, ESEN has not limited itself to looking at what has been done: it has outlined the contours of Tunisia’s digital economy of tomorrow. This successful strategic round confirms that the future of the sector now hinges on the synergy between academic talent and technological innovation.
The success of “E-Commerce: The Comeback” proves that ESEN does not simply train graduates: it fosters a true community in a collective dynamic.
Beyond its traditional mission, the Tunisian university now positions itself as the nation’s strategic engine, committed to forming a new generation of builders capable of bringing innovation to the heart of growth.
For observers present, this success marks the beginning of a new era where Tunisian e-commerce, more mature and technological, is about to reach a new growth milestone.
