The National Agency for Energy Management (ANME) announced the opening of applications to benefit from a financial subsidy of 10,000 dinars intended for the purchase of an individual taxi. This initiative is part of the program to intensify the use of collective transport in Tunisia, funded by the Global Environment Facility (GEF) and implemented in Tunisia under the supervision of the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO), the National Agency for Energy Management, and the Ministry of Environment.
This call for applications is addressed to holders of a valid individual taxi license, operating in one of the governorates of the Tunisian Republic, whose taxi license is aged 31 to 59 years at the date of submission of the application, and who have an agreement in principle for the financing of the acquisition from a bank or a leasing company, or who are able to justify their capacity to self-finance.
Note that the application dossier must include the following documents:
– The attached application form, duly legalized;
– A copy of the national identity card;
– A photocopy of the driving license;
– A copy of the operating card, for taxi owners already in operation;
– A recent Bulletin No. 3 (police record);
– An estimated quotation for the vehicle to be acquired;
– A principle agreement for financing issued by a bank or a leasing company, for candidates wishing to acquire the vehicle through banking financing or a leasing contract;
– A bank statement for candidates wishing to acquire the vehicle through self-financing.
The application files must be deposited directly at the central ordering office of the National Agency for Energy Management no later than November 6, 2026 at 16:00.
The stamp of the central ordering office or the sending time of the e-mail will be the reference to determine the filing date. Holders of individual taxi licenses whose files have been verified and found compliant will be selected according to the order of arrival of applications, within the limit of 24 electric taxis, with an equal distribution between the two sexes.
If the number of applications received from one of the two sexes is insufficient, the requests will be completed according to their date of receipt.
Last week, the National Agency for Energy Management had announced the acceptance of 23 files from taxi owners wishing to benefit from a 10,000 dinars subsidy for the acquisition of an electric taxi, as part of a pilot program aimed at supporting electric mobility in Tunisia.
On August 20, 2026, the Agency had launched a pilot program intended for 47 individual taxi drivers for the acquisition of electric vehicles, in order to encourage the adoption of electric mobility in the transport sector, to support the energy transition and to reduce carbon emissions.
