Eni today announced a significant discovery of gas and condensates in Egypt, following the successful drilling of the exploration well in the Temsah concession, located offshore in the Eastern Mediterranean. Initial estimates indicate around 2,000 billion cubic feet (Tcf) of gas in place (GIIP), as well as 130 million barrels of associated condensates.
This discovery lies about 70 km offshore, in 95 meters of water depth, and less than 10 km from existing infrastructure, which could enable substantial synergies toward accelerated development.
“Similar to the neighboring Temsah field, in production since 2001, the reservoir is a high-quality sandstone reservoir bearing gas, with about 50 meters of net reservoir,” notes Eni.
Present in Egypt since 1954, Eni now has a diversified portfolio spanning exploration, development, and production. In 2025, its production of oil and gas in the country amounted to 242,000 barrels of oil equivalent per day in net terms.
