Downdetector reported an outage affecting the social media platforms Facebook and Instagram, owned by Meta, for thousands of users in the United States.
The two platforms, Facebook and Instagram, subsequently returned to normal after this brief outage, which disrupted the service for thousands of users in the United States on Sunday.
According to the site, which tracks technical incidents by compiling reports from several sources, more than 17,000 outage reports were recorded on Facebook, versus more than 5,000 on Instagram.
Downdetector’s figures, based on user reports, mean that the actual number of people affected may differ.
As a reminder, Facebook and Instagram had already experienced a similar outage in July, when Downdetector recorded as many as 4,808 reports of problems on Facebook and 2,829 on Instagram.
