To better understand the reasons and analyze the factors explaining the success and the crown of the Tunisian national volleyball team, notably with its 12th African title, in contrast with the difficulties faced by other team sports, we decided to seek the opinion of a technical consultant and football coach.
It is now the turn of the coach of JS Kairouanaise, Lotfi Kadri, who thus shared his view on the question, first as a spectator, then as a passionate devotee of Tunisian sport in general.
According to Kadri, the success of the Tunisian national volleyball team and the consistency of its crowns, as reflected by its 12 African titles, compared with the decline of other team sports, can be explained by several factors of organizational, technical, and human nature.
The reasons for the success of the national volleyball team are multiple:
– Administrative and technical stability: absence of deep structural problems, compared with other sports federations, with trust placed in the technical staff and continuity in the work.
– Team spirit and discipline: rigorous discipline, strong mental concentration, and work based on teamwork, without negative media hype.
– Foundational training: Tunisia has a long tradition and real pools of local talent in volleyball, notably in regions like Kelibia, Haouaria, and others, which allows for continual renewal of the national team roster.
On the other hand, the reasons for failures or the decline of other team sports, notably football, handball, and basketball, are linked to several factors:
– Poor governance and management: proliferation of financial crises and legal disputes within clubs and sports federations.
– Media and popular pressure: lack of concentration and the negative impact of excessive pressure on players.
– Weak training and marginalization of infrastructure: insufficient support for youth categories and national competitions, compared with the scale of money spent without a real strategic vision.
– Lack of continuity: frequent changes of coaches and resorting to ad hoc solutions instead of long-term planning.
