The Association of Road Safety Ambassadors launched, this Monday, September 28, 2026, an urgent call for the effective enforcement of the 30 km/h speed limit near schools, educational and university institutions, training centers and sports facilities, according to TAP, the news agency.
This appeal comes a few hours after a traffic accident that occurred this morning in Mohamedia, in the Ben Arous governorate, just a few meters from a school.
Two Women Killed on the Spot
According to Salem Youssfi, the regional director of Civil Protection in Ben Arous, quoted by TAP, the driver of a truck lost control of his vehicle, which struck several people. The toll includes two women dead on the spot and several injured.
In its statement, the association calls for an end to the “irresponsible and reckless” behaviors of some drivers, by strengthening speed control and punishing violators.
It also emphasizes the need to secure the surroundings of schools with appropriate developments capable of obliging motorists to adopt a safe speed, noting that “every delay can mean another victim.”
The association finally recalls that the speed limit near educational establishments has been enshrined in law since June 2018, and that it must be respected and enforced.
