On the occasion of World Tourism Day, celebrated every year on September 27, the French Embassy in Tunisia indicated that French tourists constitute the leading European nationality visiting Tunisia. According to data from the Tunisian Ministry of Interior, their number reached, in 2025, 1,134,400 French tourists.
The French Embassy in Tunisia published this Sunday, on its page, a series of data highlighting France’s contribution to the Tunisian tourism sector. It notably emphasized that French companies operating in this strategic sector constitute the leading foreign investor and the leading foreign employer in Tunisia.
The embassy specified that the cumulative investments of French companies in Tunisia amounted to 628 million dinars, with the creation of more than 4,500 jobs, i.e., about 22 % of all jobs created thanks to foreign direct investment.
Regarding training, educational establishments and tourism trades, the embassy also highlighted the support provided by the French Development Agency (AFD) and the Institut français de Tunisie in training in the tourism sector, in order to strengthen employment opportunities and develop the skills of young people wishing to work in the tourism sector.
It recalled that, within the framework of the project « Moustadam », dedicated to promoting tourism professions and developing professional French skills, a budget of €100,000 was allocated to 8 centers under the Agency for Training in Tourism Trades.
