FTAV: Mohamed Ali Toumi Takes the Helm of Travel Agencies for 2026-2030

Mohamed Ali Toumi regains the presidency of the Tunisian Federation of Travel Agencies and Tourism (FTAV). Following the vote held on Saturday, May 23, 2026, member agencies entrusted their confidence to the “Green List” that he led for the 2026-2030 mandate. A return that comes at a pivotal moment for a profession undergoing restructuring.

A Return With Strong Symbolic Significance

Mohamed Ali Toumi is not a newcomer to the FTAV. He had already chaired the federation from 2011 to 2018, a period during which he established himself as one of the most active voices in Tunisian tourism, before being named Minister of Tourism and Crafts in 2020. His return to the head of the professional organization thus resembles a self-assured comeback, backed by an experience that is both sectoral and institutional, rare in the Tunisian landscape.

This double credential — that of a travel agency professional and that of a former public official — is precisely what his list highlighted during the campaign: the ability to engage in dialogue with both members as well as with the administration and international partners.

The victorious “Green List” brings together professionals from different segments of the sector: travel agencies, business tourism and events. Besides Mohamed Ali Toumi, it gathers Nadaa Ghozzi, Abdelaziz Benaissi, Zied Felfoul, Manel Mehiri, Anis Suissi, Kamel Zahra, Khouloud Khairi and Lotfi Brahmi.

The distribution of roles within the new executive bureau — presidency, vice-presidencies and responsibilities of commissions — will be detailed at the first meeting of the board of directors, in line with federation practices.

A Roadmap Oriented Toward Revival

The campaign of the list was built around a guiding objective: rehabilitating the FTAV and restoring its role, on the national as well as international stage. Several priorities were highlighted, including restoring members’ trust, modernizing the federation’s operating mechanisms, and providing better support to professionals facing the sector’s changes.

These orientations respond to very real challenges. Tunisian travel agencies are no longer merely facing a post-crisis rebound: they are confronting a fundamental transformation of their trade. Direct booking and digital platforms bypass part of their traditional value. Margins are under pressure. Today’s traveler is more autonomous, better informed, used to comparing and composing their own trip.

At the same time, new growth levers appear — business and events tourism, alternative circuits, the promotion of domestic tourism — which require updated skills and a refreshed positioning.

In this context, the role of a strong federation — capable of defending the interests of the profession, structuring dialogue with public authorities and weighing in on sectoral negotiations — appears more important than ever.

A Schedule That Comes at Just the Right Moment

This new term opens as Tunisian tourism seeks to consolidate its rebound and reinvent itself. Travel agencies, a key link in the tourism value chain, have a pivotal role to play in diversifying offerings, developing business and events tourism, promoting domestic destinations and adapting to new modes of travel consumption.

By placing this team at the head of the federation for the next four years, sector professionals seem to have prioritized experience and the ability to engage in institutional dialogue.

Mohamed Ali Toumi’s return now places the FTAV before an obligation to deliver results: restore internal trust, modernize federation action, and help Tunisian agencies regain their place in a tourism value chain that has been deeply transformed.
