On the occasion of the opening ceremony of GITEX Africa, the Moroccan prime minister Aziz Akhannouch highlighted the rising momentum of investments devoted to the digital sector in recent years.

The Moroccan leader also stressed that the budget allocated to this field has seen a significant increase, rising from about 11 million dirhams in 2021 to more than 1.7 billion dirhams by 2024, signaling a clear intent to accelerate digital transformation.

This evolution is part of a broader dynamic aimed at structuring the digital ecosystem, notably through the establishment of a dedicated governmental department responsible for piloting projects related to digitization.

The stated objective is to modernize public services, to support innovation, and to strengthen the country’s attractiveness for technology players and international investors.
